In order to concentrate on your conversations you will need adequate space in a place that is silent, well-illuminated and pleasant. A desk that is always neat and a computer with the necessary equipment such as a headset with an attached microphone is ideal to better hear and be heard, along with high quality monolingual and bilingual dictionaries. These tools will allow you to dedicate your time to your a fullfilling experience and you will be better able to take maximum advantage of your time.
What you will need for sessions:
• A free Google Calendar account.
• Conversations can be with or without video.
• A high speed broadband connection using a PC or laptop.
• A cell phone or tablet works but is not so effective because you cannot take notes or easily use text chat like you can on a PC or laptop.
• HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you use a headset with a microphone attached to it. A headset is recommended as you can hear much better and speak more clearly because of the proximity of your mouth.
• Willingness to learn, discipline to prepare, and determination to improve.
It is a good idea to know and/or choose a topic you want to discuss. The conversation content is very flexible.
During the conversation, for example, you could,
(a) practice free conversations, or
(b) talk about something that you read,
(c) correct written homework you've done, or
(d) ask about grammar, or if you have questions about something from your studies or school or work you can ask about it.
I will help stimulate your conversation but I want you to choose what you wish to discuss and for you to take the initiative to direct your conversation because this forces you to think in the language. I am here to help you but you are here to activate your own learning and, also, your own ideas that you want to share. You must be interested in what you want to talk about, otherwise, your time will be wasted talking about, maybe, what you don't like. I do not let a class get boring. I recommend you be PRO-ACTIVE. It is part of your learning because it must come from within you to want to speak. You do the speaking, I will assist you to become aware of mistakes in grammar, pronunciation or choice of vocabulary. That's how to learn effectively with someone coaching you to become aware of the English language. If you don't understand, please, ask me. Always! As you are responsible for the content of the conversation, I will not prepare or give homework unless there is something that I think you need to do for yourself. I will give you, sometimes, handouts that I think are important for you.

As your tutor, I promise to be prepared to have our session(s) at our agreed scheduled time each week.
Except for emergencies, I will give you at least 24 hours notice if I need to reschedule. My failure to otherwise show up for a session earns you a FREE session.
As my student, you promise to be prepared and on time for your session at our agreed scheduled time each week. Except for emergencies, you will give me at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule. Failure to give me fair notice will forfeit your payment for that session.
If you are late for a scheduled session, you will lose the time and not be credited the lost minutes. For example, if you were supposed to show up for a 60 minute session at 1:00 pm but you arrived, for whatever reason, at 1:30, the session will be for only 30 minutes.
If you don't arrive for a scheduled session and never communicated you would be absent, you will lose the credit for that session.
You must tell me 24 hours ahead of time if you want to change a scheduled session.
